Hunting for that pattern piece…

I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there.  You go to sew the next two patches and one has mysteriously gone missing!  You let out a scream and start the hunt.  What makes my hunt a little harder is that many pieces for my landscape quilts are somewhere around one-eighth to one inch in size.  I do have a system that limits the loss of these pieces but sometimes one must sneeze or cough and even with a hand in place—that piece will fly!

Now in the throes of extreme quilting, one doesn’t always clean up as much as one should. Hence, when a piece grows wings and flies off to a safer distance, it can be hell trying to find it.  This leads me on to my tips of the day…

Always check the inside of your shoe

Stick a note on the machine to cough in the other direction

…and vacuum!

What’s the weirdest place you’ve ever found a missing piece?

Happy quilting and hunting!
